It also provides the ability to zoom in and out without having to increase font sizes, which makes looking at fonts much easier (especially if the text is small as you do not have to increase the font size). One big advantage is that it is open source, and thus can be changed easily if necessary, and completely free for end users. This is very useful to ensure each tag is closed properly, and when verifying the structure of the XML and DTD to ensure every tag is closed and the elements are in the correct place etc. Additionally, when you double click on a syntax tag it highlights every syntax with the same name. Firstly it automatically highlights every syntax with its own colour, which makes it easier to identify different types of syntax elements or searching for them. With Notepad ++, which is only available in windows, I have found there to be many superior advantages to the default Notepad program bundled with Windows. I have additionally found a specific program for XML editing called ‘Oxygen’ ( ) which run’s on the mac platform. ![]() After using Notepad ++ on my windows computer, and Text Wrangler on my MacBook air I have compared the programs to each other and concluded their advantages and disadvantages to the default Notepad program in Windows. ![]()
